Drop-Off & Pick-Up

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP

The safety of every child is the most important concern of Walker staff. By slowing driving speed, following the direction of traffic, being aware of where cars park, and being more patient, we can reduce the chances of our students and families being harmed during drop-off and pick-up.

Before School

There is no student supervision prior to 7:30am. Students should remain with a parent/guardian until this time.

The side lot gate is only open to staff and Primetime/Champions families before 7:30am. Cars dropping off students for regular day of school should remain in line until directed by a staff member to enter through the side lot gate.

The front blue gate opens at 7:30am. Students must follow the marked blue walking path to the blacktop and line-up with their class. Students are not allowed to roam the campus or report to a classroom without a note from a staff member. Only assigned students may enter the Multi-Purpose Room to pick up their classroom’s breakfast cart.

Parent/guardians may not enter campus with their student in order to promote their child's independence and autonomy. (Exception: Family Friendly Friday Assembly on the blacktop - parent/guardians must leave campus immediately at the conclusion of this assembly to not disrupt instructional time.)

Parent/guardians may only take photos and videos of their own children in order to not compromise their safety and security of other children.

Only during inclement weather, students will be sent directly to their classroom during morning drop-off.

Mondays - Thursdays: Students should participate in walking/running the perimeter of the blacktop to encourage early morning physical activity and readiness for classroom learning.
The warning bell rings at 7:43am. Teachers will begin taking their class from the blacktop to the classroom at this time.

Instruction time begins at 7:45am. Walker students will be served their free breakfast in the classroom.

After School

Dismissal is at 2:15pm (12:15pm on Thursdays). Students will line up in their classrooms and be led to the blacktop by their teacher. Teachers will release each student one-by-one to their parent/guardian or afterschool program.
Parent/guardians must wait on the blacktop to receive their student. Parent/guardians are not allowed to loiter around classrooms while waiting for their student.
Please be prompt in picking up your child. Teachers will begin walking their remaining students to the front office by 2:30pm. Parents will have to sign-out their child through the front office at this time.
Children may not use the play structures at any time before or after school.
Students approved to walk home without a parent/guardian should walk with a buddy, walk directly home, and cross only at marked intersections.
